Welcome to the Commvault® Professional Foundations Storage Configuration self-paced training. This course is comprised of six modules: CommCell Environment, Storage Configuration, Security, Servers and Features, Data Management, and Monitoring.

Let’s begin with the CommCell Environment.

In this course you will:

• Review the  powerful set of backup and recovery tools in the Commvault Portfolio.
• Learn about the Commvault® software, its multi-faceted CommCell® environment, and its primary core components: the CommServe® server and MediaAgent.
• Learn about the navigation and customization of the Commvault Command Center^TM, and,
• Take a closer look at the CommServe® Server, its DR backup processes, and recommendations how to use and configure the MediaAgent to handle storage efficiently.

Also available are a series of instructor guided demonstrations that focus on how to:

• Perform the core setup of the Commvault Command Center^TM and administer common tasks.
• Add the File Servers and Virtualization features -- the tools required to manage and monitor backups and recovery.

As more organizations move away from traditional tape storage and shift more towards disk and cloud, deduplication plays a key role in keeping costs down and improving backup and recovery windows.

In this course we'll look at how Commvault software uses disk, cloud, and tape storage to safeguard and manage protected data.  We'll also review different storage devices:  NAS, SAN, and DAS, to help you determine the best storage solution for your environment.  

Lastly, we'll round-out this course with a video to introduce Commvault Deduplication---specifically how it works, its benefits and features, and how deduplication plays a key role in keeping costs down while improving backup and recovery windows.
